PURVEYORS OF WHISKEY HOSPITALITY
We’re dedicated to creating a quality product, taking the time to craft it to it’s highest potential and utilize only pure, organic ingredients. While whiskey is what we originally fell in love with, all of our products have a special place in our heart. Variety and quality are what motivate us.
Everything about Journeyman Distillery is handcrafted, and we like that our home reflects that attention to labor. The original maple factory floors are from the 1800s. We have an original concrete bar that was made in Grand Rapids, with coordinates etched into the side—to mark this historic and unique location. We’re using wood from the family barn in central Indiana; wood that was once the flooring for an early 1900s schoolhouse. We feel that E.K. Warren, the original builder of the factory—while being a staunch prohibitionist—would be proud to see his building shining bright.
Our bottles are like our building: steeped in family history that we’re thrilled to share with you.
Journeyman Distillery is one of few certified organic distilleries in the United States, providing all organic spirits produced without the use of synthetic fertilizers, artificial pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, growth hormones, or genetically modified organisms. Following our commitment to producing the highest quality spirits, we are also kosher certified. Our production facility, ingredients, and distillation practices have been inspected by the leading Rabbi at Kosher Organics to insure the trust of the worldwide kosher community.
Sustainability is more than a philosophy—it’s a responsibility. From the spaces we restore to the grains we source, every choice we make reflects a commitment to land, community, and legacy.
From the beginning, we have approached sustainability with a mindset of preservation and respect. Instead of building new, we restored historic spaces like the Featherbone Factory in Three Oaks and our American Factory in Valparaiso, giving them new life while keeping construction waste out of landfills. Inside, reclaimed wood, salvaged hardware, and antique fixtures all contribute to a philosophy of reuse and renewal.
Our grains have long been sourced as close to home as possible, supporting regional farmers in Indiana and Michigan. By choosing nearby partnerships, we keep our supply chain connected to the land and people around us. This respect for place, history, and agriculture reflects our identity as a family-owned distillery working to create something lasting for generations to come.
Today, sustainability is built into the way we operate across both distilleries. Our “grain-to-glass-to-table” approach connects spirits to food by using organic grains not only for distilling but also in our restaurant, where they appear in dishes like our signature pizza crusts. The aquifer beneath Three Oaks continues to supply pure water for production, and we take care to monitor and protect this essential resource.
We’ve also made hospitality more eco-conscious. Guests will notice reusable spirit bottles serving as water carafes, linen napkins replacing paper, and EV charging stations available at both locations. Behind the scenes, we are auditing packaging, energy use, and byproducts with the goal of continually improving. These efforts reflect our belief that sustainability is not a trend or a checkbox—it’s an evolving standard we hold ourselves to every day.
Looking ahead, we’re is committed to weaving sustainability into every part of our growth. We will continue to strengthen relationships with local farms, refine how we package and present our spirits, and explore partnerships and certifications that reflect our values. Guests will see these efforts not only in what’s in the glass, but also in the spaces we restore, the food we share, and the community we support. For us, sustainability is not a project with an end point—it is a lasting commitment built to endure for generations.

Like all great things in life, our products have taken time and earnest work; they come from the simplest, purest ingredients on earth.

We believe it is so important to pour into our communities, and there are many ways to do that. Recently we opened our putting green that is not only affordable, but free for ages 6-12. We have also created a program that businesses can participate in by selling our Silver Cross Whiskey. Where we give 1% of all sales from this whiskey back to various golf charities/organizations to teach kids the game of golf. We also have Islay’s Barrel, which is named after Bill & Johanna’s daughter. It’s mission is to extend summer program opportunities to Southwest Michigan children.
