Celebrating a birthday during the holidays can be a rather strange experience, as you find yourself sharing attention with Santa and a whole lot of other larger-than-life historical and cultural icons.
But December doesn’t have to be all about trees and menorahs, and if your special day is also a special day for a whole lot of other people, a specialty birthday-themed cocktail is a great way to get the attention right back where it belongs. At least for the length of cocktail hour.

Daniel Lagestee, Journeyman Distillery beverage coordinator and lead bartender at Union Hall in Valparaiso, Indiana created the Lemon Chiffon, inspired by a classic citrusy cake flavor and incorporating limoncello, white whiskey and walnut liqueur for a smooth drinking cocktail.
“The play of the nut liquor off of the citrus notes in the limoncello provide warmth and buttery expressions. The White Whiskey used in this cocktail allows for these flavors to shine, as it does not dominate the palate with some of the standard characteristics you find in aged spirits, creating a harmonious cocktail,” said Lagestee.
